The NBA has always been an interesting place. There’s always interesting news or trade rumors. There’s always someone injured or someone getting mad at their teammates or someone saying something funny at a press conference. The last few days have been nothing like any other in NBA history. In the last few days 4 all-star level players have been traded to different teams. 4. Different. All-stars. Wow. This is literally a sports journalist’s dream come true. Nobody expected Luka in LA. Nobody expected De’Aaron Fox in San Antonio. But this trade is different from the other 2. People have been expecting this trade to happen for a really long time. Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. As a huge GSW fan myself, I really don’t know how to feel about this trade.
What was the trade and was it even?
Well here’s the trade. It was a 4 way deal between the Warriors, Heat, Jazz, and Pistons.
Warriors receive: Jimmy Butler
Heat receive: Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, P.J. Tucker, the Warriors’ 2025 first-round pick with top-10 protection
Utah Jazz receive: Dennis Schröder
Detroit Pistons receive: Lindy Waters III, Josh Richardson
This was an interesting one. The Warriors and Heat were the main 2 teams involved in this trade. The Warriors gave up a lot to get Jimmy Buckets. They gave up Andrew Wiggins, Lindy Waters III (to the Pistons), Kyle Anderson, and a 1st round pick. It’s really hard for me to see Wiggins being traded. He lives very close to me and is generally a really good person. All the Heat gave up was Jimmy Butler. I feel like Jimmy Butler will fit into the Warriors system really well. He will also be a good relief of the pressure on Steph Curry. Looking at the Heat, they don’t really have a superstar any more. Other than Bam Adebayo, nobody on their team is around the all-star level. What the Heat do have is a whole lot of good trade assets. The Heat can easily trade some of their players for a superstar if they want to. Looking at the other teams in this trade, nothing really changes. The Jazz get Dennis Shröder, who hasn’t been performing particularly amazing for the Warriors. He’s certainly had moments where he has been amazing, but other than those few nights, he has been pretty on and off. The Pistons are getting Lindy Waters III and Josh Richardson. Lindy Waters III has been shooting really well for the Warriors. He also is a good perimeter defender. Josh Richardson is not doing as well. He is only averaging 4 points per game this season. If I had to give the Warriors a grade for this trade, I would give them a B+. The reason for this is because they got a superstar for a good price. If I had to give the Heat a grade for this trade, I would give them an A. This is because they are giving up their star who had been complaining and asking for trades for a long time for a lot of good trade assets. The other 2 teams didn’t really trade enough to get a grade.
Conclusions
